Target/Main goal:

• integration of the diff-functionality in the template update process (during an installation of a template update package procedure)

Reason/Background:

• during the template update procedure, informations about differences between already existing and new installed templates might be very useful (to identify possible problems much more faster and easier)
• actually, this has to be done manually by comparing manually created text-files containing the template revisions
• a GUI-based comparison logic is already available in FirstSpirit R2/R4 (via the version history dialog: see screenshot below) - but not yet integrated in the template update process

Then a diff / merging feature should also be included into the sync update process as well. 😉

Hello Holger,

in FirstSpirit version 5.1. the FirstSpirit External Synchronization functionality was introduced. This is not exactly the implementation of your feature request but within the combination of a version control system it is possible to the diffs of the templates and all the other advantages of a VCS.
