So I'm new here, but using models to restrict what content creators can create in folders seems great, but the flaw is that at the minute the "file", "folder" and "project" still appear as options under new. Is there a way to disable these? I can't find any detail on the University or anywhere else.

Yes.

Once you have models set up, it is best practise to remove access to the fundamental creation options (File, Folder and Upload). This is done through setting the group permissions (Settings > Users/Groups > Groups > {group}). Look in the "Content Admin" section for the capabilities:

• Users can upload files
• Users can create folders
• Users can create files

There is definitely a way to disable those options ("File", "Folder" and "Project"). To disable these you would need to edit the group the users belong to. In the CMS, navigate to the Settings --> Users/Groups --> Groups and Double click the group you wish to edit, expand the "Content Admin" section and uncheck the options in the Red Rectangle as seen in the attachment.
