New content area - Added to the standard page

Hello,

This is Gopal from Bosch.

I have a question with regards to adding content area to a standard page.

Current Situation

We have a request for adding a new content area as requested by customer to be defined into a standard page. Means standard page has 3 content area and we are adding a new content area as the 4th one to the standard page.

In this scenario all the new pages created with the new latest standard page has 4 content area which is fine. But the old page created with the 3 content area has still 3 new content area which is not updated with the new 4th content area.

In this scenario how can we update the old pages to refelect the new content area added to it. Is the only way is to delete the old page and create a new page which will have 4 content area. Please advice.

Example is : dc_25102012_stdpage1 - has 3 content area

                 : dc_25102012_stdpage1 - has 4 content area

As below how to upodate the 102012_stdpage1 - which can reflect 4 content area.

Go to the page template in question, right click -> extras -> accept template changes.

This will update all existing pages based on that template.

Hello Christoph Feddersen,

Thanks for your fast reply.

But in this case all pages created with this standard page template will be updated, but is it possible to do it on the page store level for page by page.

The reason is only people who are interested with the latest changes to the standard page can get the new template based on the page owners choice. Please advice.

Regards

Gopal

No, it's not possible to do that page by page. Wouldn't it be confusing for editors if pages, using on the same page template, would have a different number of body sections?

Maybe creating a new page template would be a better idea if you don't want to change the existing page template and pages.
