TagControl Installation

Capabilities Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to implement TagControl and/or additional consent features that leverage the Crownpeak Omni tag. All three solutions use our Omni tag to track tags on your site and perform the intended actions. They include:

TagControl

TagControl is a product that allows you to block unauthorized third-party tags from firing on your site.

Consent Control

Consent Control is a feature used alongside the Universal Consent Platform to comply with privacy regulations like the GDPR. Consent Control blocks tags from firing on your website until you have obtained consent from your website visitor, also known as “prior consent.” It does not require tag wrapping or building rules and triggers into a tag manager.

Real-Time Scanning

Real-time Scanning is a feature used alongside the Universal Consent Platform to comply with privacy regulations like the GDPR and CCPA. Real-time Scanning will scan your websites in real-time and update the vendors disclosed in your consent notices, allowing you to bypass the manual update process.

Add the Omni Tag

For all three solutions, you will start by adding the JavaScript Omni tag below to your website. Updating your CompanyId and placing the tag in the correct location are critical to the implementation process.

<script src=”https://c.evidon.com/dg/dg.js” companyid=”{company id #}”></script>

Update your CompanyId

For this tag to run properly, you will need to update the code with the correct value for the companyId. If you are unsure of the value, your Customer Success Manager can supply it. Using the companyId, the tag will fetch a configuration file (config.json) that is unique to your company. This configuration file manages metering, number of data requests, scan interval, whitelist, and TagControl’s mode. Updates can be made by submitting a support request in the Crownpeak Community.

Where to Place the Omni Tag

Tag Control: We recommend adding it to the <head> tag before anything else.

Consent Control: We recommend adding it to the <head> tag before anything else.

Real-time Scanning: Add the tag to every page of every website you would like scanned.

Caution: Adding the Omni tag to a different location can cause issues with your implementation and website. If you have questions, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

If you are only trying to implement Real-time Scanning, you’re all done! Once the Omni tag is in place, scanning will commence in real-time using real user metrics. This information is aggregated daily and used to update your consent notices in the Universal Consent Platform nightly.

If you are implementing TagControl or Consent Control, continue to the next step.
