As announced in our last message on March 3, 2025, we will soon be carrying out the migration to SmartSearch 5.
For this purpose, we will stop the SmartSearch server on Development/QA on Tuesday, 22.04.2025 from 5 p.m. (CET), which means that indexing and access to the cockpit will not be possible. The search functionality will not be affected and will continue to work!
We will copy your data to the new system during the night.
On Wednesday, 23.04.2025, the new SmartSearch 5 will be activated between 6:00 and 09:00 (CET). We expect search queries to be interrupted for a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes during this period.
Basically, SmartSearch will not behave any differently after the update, queries and calls will work exactly as before. However, the update to Java 21 and Solr 9 will improve the efficiency and quality of the service.
The process will be identical for production. The changeover for PROD to SmartSearch 5 will take place on FirstSpirit Patchday on June 4. Specifically, this means that we will stop indexing on Tuesday, June 3 at 17:00 (CET) and activate the new SmartSearch 5 on PROD on Wednesday between 6:00 and 9:00 (CET).
The most important points summarized:
- The changeover from DEV and QA will take place from April 23rd to 24th 2025.
- The changeover from PROD to SmartSearch 5 will take place from June 3rd to 4th 2025.
- No new data can be entered the night before the respective upgrade.
- The search is only interrupted for 5 to 10 minutes between 6:00 and 9:00 (CET) on the day of the respective upgrade.
- No statistical data is migrated for DEV and QA.
- On Prod, all statistical data will be migrated from January 1st, 2025.
- Despite extensive testing in advance, it is possible that we have not considered every possible use case. We therefore strongly recommend that you test your implementations extensively for DEV and QA. Please keep in mind that all relevant components will receive a major update.
