New DQM UI Guide

Navigating the new DQM user interface

The new DQM user interface is split between the following sections:

Group Performance

  • Intended for website administrators and website managers working across multiple websites and groups
  • Review how the different websites that DQM analyzes are performing against each other
  • Review common issues that occur between websites

Website Insights

  • Intended for website owners and content editors working on specific websites
  • Review issues found for a given website
  • Review assets available for a given website

Settings

  • Intended for website administrators
  • Manage access to DQM
  • Modify configurations set in DQM

Group performance

Website Category Compliance

The Website Category Compliance page provides a report to show compliant a given website is for a specific set of checkpoints.

Filtering by Category

You can filter the report so that it only considers checkpoints for a particular category. In DQM, you can customize categories and move checkpoints to a specific category. This filter helps to specify which category the list of websites need to comply with.

Filtering by Website Group

You can also customize the list of websites to show all groups or only a specific group of websites. You can then combine with other filters to narrow down the presented data.

Website Table

The website table provides the list of websites to be measured against the list of checkpoints. A Status indicator in the table shows if a website passes all checkpoints specified in the filter. Pass indicates that there is no issue detected at all and Fail indicates that there is at least one issue found. The issue count is also available on the table.

Table Drop Down

You can also select a given website on the table. This expands the row and displays the list of specific checkpoints in the specified filters and the issue counts for each of the checkpoints. This allows users to know if exactly which checkpoint/s are causing the fail status.

Export

The CSV export provides the filters specified, the contents of the website table, as well as historical values.

Website Insights

Website Overview

The Website Overview section provides a quick glance on what is happening to a website in terms of its quality. A progress chart provides an indicator if the number of issues for a website is going up or going down relative to the number of pages. A summary is also available on the different categorizations of issues that DQM was able to find.

Website Issues

The Website Issues section displays the different checkpoints available in DQM used to analyze a website. A count displays beside each checkpoint indicating how many pages in the selected website contains issues against the checkpoint.

Selecting a checkpoint expands the table to provide a summary providing a brief explanation on the checkpoint. A link is also available that leads to the Checkpoint Description should more details about the checkpoint be needed.

If a checkpoint does have issues, the 5 most recently detected pages with issues will also be listed. This provides a quick way to get an understanding of issues found on the page.

Should the full list of pages with issues be needed a View all issues button is available that leads users to the Issue Details page.

Issue Details

The Issue details page provides the complete list of pages with issues found for a particular checkpoint. This is useful in cases where an analysis of all issues found for the checkpoint is needed. Similar to the main issues page the Checkpoint Summary and a link to the Checkpoint Description is also available on this page.

Page Analyzer

Page Analyzer shows details on what DQM has found for a given page.

File Details

File details provides useful references in relation to the page being analyzed. Depending on the file type, different information will be available on this page. For example, Web Pages, additional information such as Title, Metadata Descriptions, Keywords and Headings will be available for this file type.

Issues

The Issues section shows the list of checkpoints where DQM found issues against for the specified page. Selecting a specific checkpoint will provide more details about the issue found.

Browser view provides a way to visually highlight where an issue occurs in the webpage by recreating the page and highlighting the section where the issue is found.

Source view provides a way to highlight issues found in the code of the page.

Note: There are checkpoints such as those where elements are missing where Highlighting through Browser or Source View won’t be available. This is because the checkpoint is flagging that the element is missing from the page and should be added.

Additionally, certain JavaScript or code on a website may prevent Browser view from rendering a webpage. In these instances, we recommend using source view to identify the issues on the page.

Spelling

Spelling shows the list of misspelled words on the page and provides Browser and Source view to highlight where misspellings occur.

Inventory

The Inventory section shows what DQM was able to find when it scanned the website. This includes web pages, images, CSS, and other files found.

Similar to the Issues section, selecting a specific file asset provides a preview of the latest assets found. A view all assets button is available to view the complete list of assets.

Settings

Checkpoint Management

The Checkpoint Management list contains all available checkpoints for your DQM environment and informs you if a checkpoint is derived from Crownpeak's best practice library or a custom checkpoint requested by your organization. Admins can now search for a particular checkpoint and use the filters to display only checkpoints by priority or quality topic.

Accessing Checkpoint Management

In the left-hand navigation, go to Settings > Checkpoint Management.

Customizing checkpoints

Admins can customize checkpoints in the following ways:

  • Change checkpoint visibility
  • Change checkpoint priority
  • Change checkpoint summary
  • Change checkpoint description

Spelling

Spelling provides a list of all misspelled words found in the website.
