Pending stage in workflow

In regards to workflow order in the CMS is there a reason we would not want to have "pending" state between "stage" and "live"? I know the Crownpeak recommended way is to have "pending" between "dev" and "stage" but am wondering what the rationale behind that is and if there are any foreseeable issues with having "pending" between "stage" and "live"

Thanks for your question.

You can add any custom state in between Stage and Live in your workflow just as you can between Dev and Stage i.e. QA.

However if the reason is because you need some restriction before going Live then instead of adding Pending you could use a Workflow Filter to restrict only specific user groups to be able to publish content Live i.e. 'Editors' or 'Publishers'.
