Checkpoints - Do not use bold tags to emphasize text
The element only affects the visual presentation of the text, and does not convey semantic meaning. It can be used as a span of text to which attention is drawn for utilitarian purposes without conveying any extra importance. Semantic markup such as and can be used to mark emphasized or important text so that it can be programmatically determined. Some assistive technologies provide a mechanism for determining the characteristics of content that has been created using proper semantic markup.
Accessibility (WCAG 2.0 Level A, 1.3.1)
The checkpoint examines the entire HTML source code of a page and reports if any elements are found.
